JOWAI: Students of Jowai Polytechnics supported by the Jaintia Students’ Union have decided to organise series of agitation programmes in protest against the state government’s failure to fully take control of both Jowai and Tura Polytechnics.

Speaking to media persons, General Secretary, Jowai Polytechnic Students Union, Oversee Malang informed that students of both Jowai and Tura Polytechnics will begin their agitational program to pressurize the government to take control of both the institutions from Monday next.

“On Monday, we are to begin our protest with sit in demonstrations against the adamant attitude of the government who only promised to take control of both the institutes but it was never done in reality”, Malang said adding, “on Tuesday, we are going to close down the institute”.

Tura and Jowai Polytechnics were established in the year 2001 and 2002 respectively by the Government of Meghalaya with financial assistance from the World Bank under the Third Technician Education III Project.
