NGOs meet on creation of district in WKH

 NONGSTOIN: Four NGOs, FKJGP, WKHSU, WYF and KSU held another round of joint meeting at PWD, IB Nongstoin in connection with demand for creation of one district within West Khasi Hills District.

The joint meeting decided to meet Dr. Mukul Sangma Chief Minister on Monday next and personally hand over a memorandum to the CM. The NGOs also decided to urge upon the Chief Minister to announce the name of the district at the spot meeting, in order to satisfy the long pending demand for creation of district by the people of West Khasi Hills.

Meanwhile the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for creation of Mairang district held an emergency meeting at Mairang late in the afternoon of Friday. The meeting decided to observe one night road blockade between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM on Sunday.
