Govt earns Rs 343 cr as coal royalty

 SHILLONG: The State Government has been earning around Rs 343 crore as royalty from coal in the past two years.

Informing this, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Minister of Mining and Geology department Bindo M Lanong told the Assembly during Question Hour that the government is getting Rs 9.52 crore as cess on limestone.

Rs 197.66 crore was earned as royalty on coal in 2010-2011, he said adding that revenue collected in 2011-2012 was Rs 146.45 crore.

Meanwhile, he said that the Government has collected Rs 4.54 crore as cess on limestone in 2010-2011.

According to Lanong, the Government collected from the cess on limestone is Rs 4.98 crore in 2011-2012.

“The three Autonomous District Councils are having a share on revenue generated from coal and limestone,” Lanong said while replying to a supplementary.
