Shillong: Syiem of Mylliem Latho Manik Syiem has refuted charges levelled against him regarding misappropriation Rs 1.27 crore while handing over land documents belonging to the Hima to Harijans saying “The report is false and unfounded”.

In a statement, Syiem said the money referred in the news item was not misappropriated, “but it is only the budget estimate for 2010-2011 and the copy of the same was sent to the KHADC.” “The actual receipts and actual expenditure records are with the Hima”, Syiem said.

Meanwhile, commenting on his involvement in handing over land documents to Harijans despite having claimed that the same has been cancelled long time back, the Chieftain of Hima Mylliem said “The allotting land to athe Harijans does not mean that I have sold the land forever”. “Pattas were issued only for a period of 15 years”, he claimed.
