Kohima: In the unabated inter-factional clashes in various places of Nagaland, two cadres, one each from NSCN (Khaplang) and GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) cadre, were killed in Kiphire on Friday morning.
Official sources said the cadres were killed when NSCN (K) attack the Penzu Designated Camp at Kiphrie, the district headquarters, in the wee hours.
Sources said GPRN/NSCN camp was attack by 30-35 cadres of ‘Mobile 5’ operation of NSCN (K).
In the attack the GPRN/NSCN retaliated, however one of the cadres has been killed and some injured.
The NSCN (K) cadre was identified as one Tsilise, while the GPRN/NSCN cadre was identified as one Johnson.
The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) region is declared as peace zone, including Kiphire district, although, the incidence which took place at Penzu designated camp where the gun shots started around 0330 hours lasted for more than three hours.
A Joint team of tribal Hoho’s, Civil societies, NGO’s, Red Cross members, Para Military and senior citizens reach the firing spot and carried both the dead body which was latter handed over to the families.
Sources claimed that the situation is tense, but so far under control in the district.
Earlier on Thursday, the cadres of NSCN (Khaplang) and GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) fought a fierce gun battle near Zunheboto town, between Natha Old village and Natha New village below Amphoto colony.
According to official sources here today, the gun battle continued for about one hour and the district administration had to rush additional security forces. Following a joint effort of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), police, Assam Rifles (AR) besides public, the factions were dispersed, official sources added.
However, so far no casualty was reported.
According to sources, some GPRN/NSCN cadres were taking shelter at a dairy farm located in the colony when they were ambushed by rival NSCN-K cadres.
The situation in Zunheboto town is tense but under control and patrolling of AR, IRB and police personnel have been intensified, sources futher said. (UNI)
