SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) on Friday asked the State Government to stop providing subsidy to the cement factories operating in Jaintia Hills district if they fail to reduce the price of cement within one month.

“We demand for immediate action by revoking the subsidy provided to the cement companies in the district if the rate of cement is not reduced,” HANM Jaintia Hills unit president Shaniahlang Suchen said in a memorandum submitted to Deputy Chief Minister in charge Mining and Geology, Bindo M Lanong, on Friday.
