TURA: Suspected militants of the GNLA went on a rampage in East Garo Hills district setting on fire as many as 14 trucks fully loaded with coal at a parking depot in Wageasi under Mendipather police station on Saturday afternoon.
The militants, who numbered between 7 to 9 and were fully armed with automatic rifles, entered the coal parking depot at Wageasi, 10 kms from Dainadubi, at 3 PM. They first shot the tyres of the coal trucks parked in the depot and then poured petrol onto the vehicles and set them on fire. By the time reinforcements arrived barring one truck 13 other vehicles with their coal consignment had been completely destroyed.
