30 more maxi taxis to be introduced

SHILLONG: The public transport service in the city will get another boost as the State Government has decided to press into service 30 more maxi taxis shortly.

The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB), which is the nodal agency for the maxi taxi service, will introduce 30 more maxi taxis in the city before June.

Talking to The Shillong Times here on Sunday, SMB CEO T Lyngwa said, “These additional maxi taxis will operate in those areas of the city which have not been covered yet.”

It may be mentioned that the presently 45 maxi taxis are operating in the city.
