Adam Sandler sets new record as Razzie winner

Los Angeles: Actor-director Adam Sandler’s comedy movie Jack and Jill swept the 32nd Annual Razzies winning every award at the ceremony which ‘dishonour’ the worst in Hollywood films.

Sandler was nominated in a record 11 categories at the Golden Raspberry awards and his Jack and Jill set a new record becoming the first film in the 32-year history of the Razzies to “win” every single trophy handed out at the annual Oscar spoof.

The comedy was named the Worst Picture of 2011, while Sandler grabbed both Worst Actor and Actress awards at the award ceremony which was held on April Fool’s Day. Oscar winner Al Pacino, who plays himself in “Jack and Jill”, was named the Worst Supporting Actor for his role. The veteran actor was also mentioned in the Worst Screen Couple category along with co-star Katie Holmes.

The Worst Supporting Actress was given to David Spade for his role as Monica in the same movie. The entire star cast of “Jack and Jill” was named the Worst Screen Ensemble, while the film also bagged the Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel award for taking inspiration from Ed Woods’ cross-dressing camp classic Glen or Glenda. Sandler, alongwith Steve Koren and Ben Zook, also took the Worst Screenplay award for the same film. (PTI)
