SHILLONG: The power disruption for almost 43 hours since Sunday paralysed normal life in all the three districts of Garo Hills.

The shortage of kerosene in parts of the three districts has worsened the situation.

Despite several assurances in the past, the government has not taken any pro-active steps to address the issue.

Postal, banking services were affected due to power disruption.

Power went off from 1 am on Sunday and the supply was restored only at 7-20pm on Tuesday.

When contacted, Power Minister AT Mondal said that power disruption was due to the fault in 132 KV line. The fault is at Garegitim, the other side of Simsang river in East Garo Hills .
