Tura: Two persons took ill on Saturday and were hospitalised after they consumed food at Rikman Continental Hotel at Tura Bazar.

Doctors diagnosed them of food poisoning and immediately started the detoxification process.

One of the victims, NN Marak, who has been hospitalised at Tura Christian Hospital, later told this scribe that they had gone to the restaurant at Rikman Continental to celebrate a friend’s birthday and ordered noodles. “After a couple of bites I suddenly started vomiting and blacked out,” she said, while adding that her friend also fell sick after consuming the noodles.

The food poisoning in Rikman Continental Hotel has alarmed the general populace who frequent the restaurant. Rikman Continental Hotel is only of the two decent hotels in Tura. The Hotel is frequented by dignitaries and tourists from in and around the country.

The food poisioning case, if taken on a serious note, is very detrimental considering that the State Government has started initiating tourism development projects in the Garo Hills region.
