SHILLONG: The Scotland of the East, acknowledged all over for its sheer natural beauty, has once again found favours with the multi-crore Bollywood industry which is all set to shoot a film in the State with Shillong as the backdrop of the story line.
The new film tentatively titled Shillong will be shot in different locations of the State shortly.
The main attraction of this movie will be a young and talented actor, Arfi Lamba, who had acted in the Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire.
Chimnoy Sharma, who will don the director’s hat, informed during a press conference here on Friday that Shillong is an ideal location for his upcoming movie.
Sharma, who is the creative director of Bombay Berlin Film Production, informed that they would begin shooting in June. The movie would be made at a budget of Rs 1.5 crore. The post production of the movie would be completed before Diwali.
The film would tell the story of a young boy who stays in mainland India with roots in Shillong. On learning of his roots, he undertakes the journey to Shillong to meet his parents. How he goes back to his roots, and his trials and tribulations in Shillong, forms the rest of the plot.
“This film would explore the natural beauty of Shillong,” Arfi Lamba said while interacting with media persons here on Friday.
Sharma also informed that they would cast many supporting actors and actress from Shillong for the movie. The film would also highlight the matrilineal system prevalent in the hilly state, he added.
