Student kidnapped, Rs 1 crore demanded

 JOWAI: Unidentified miscreants have kidnapped a Class VIII student of Khliehriat Higher Secondary School and subsequently demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom for his release.

The incident took placed on Monday when the boy — Fortunate Rymbai — was returning from school.

Sources informed Fortunate’s father Bonyfast Shylla is a coal trader of Jaintia Hills district.

On Tuesday, Fortunate’s father received a phone call from the kidnappers where they demanded Rs 1 crore for his release, sources said.

A complaint has been lodged with Khliehriat Police in this connection.
