NONGPOH: The Assam Government has recently set up its Police Outpost at Khanapara which falls under Ri-Bhoi district of the State.

The Assam Police Outpost at Khanapara has been set up to prevent any untoward incident against the people residing along the border area.

Frontal NGOs of Ri-Bhoi district, including the KSU and the FKJGP, North Khasi Hills district, on receiving report that Assam Government had set up an outpost at Khanapara, conducted an inspection of the outpost.

Following the inspection, the NGOs expressed concern over the failure of the Meghalaya Government to take preventive initiative to protect its own territory even as it is yet to settle the border issues which have been pending for a long time.

The NGOs served a two-day ultimatum to the State Government to initiate action over the setting up of the Assam Police Outpost at Khanapara. They also warned that if the State Government fails to initiate action in this regard, they would resort to stern action in the form of agitation.
