SHILLONG: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has served a notice on party legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit who had recently cast doubt on the ideology of the party.

The notice, served on May 17, has given the Nongkrem legislator one month to make his stand known to the party on whether he intends to contest the 2013 Assembly polls as a UDP member.

The UDP served the notice after Basaiawmoit, during an election committee meeting held on April 23 last, had questioned the ideology and philosophy of the party. He had also asked the UDP leaders to clarify on the issues raised by him.

In a letter addressed to Basaiawmoit, the UDP stated that the ideology of the party is clearly mentioned in the party manifesto.

It may be noted that Basaiawmoit is yet to apply for the party ticket for the upcoming election in the State.
