TURA: Continuing with their ongoing movement for a separate A’chik State, the Garo Hills State Movement Committee (GHSMC) has decided to hold its second public procession at Baghmara, South Garo Hills on June 22.

The GHMC recently stated that a “Separate A’chik State” has been the dream of the A’chik community for decades which is still to be attained. The Committee also said that it will continuously pursue the cause of a separate state through democratic means.

GHSMC held its first public procession at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills District last month, which was attended by over 15,000 people.

GHSMC Secretary Augustine Marak urged the people of the A’chik community to come forward and partake in the movement for statehood and rebuild the power of unity within the community.
