Dimapur: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has said the leader of Opposition, Tokheho and the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee ( NPCC) have been making unfounded statements against the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government thinking that the people will be convinced by whatever is uttered by them, thereby undermining the intellect of the people of Nagaland.

In a statement issued by the NPF media bureau said on day, “For some time the Congress has been making statements on the matter of the erstwhile legislators of BJP and the NCP joining the NPF. They have even gone to the extent of saying that NPF has antagonised both the UPA and the NDA and that no peace agreement can be realised unless two thirds of Parliament approves of it. Such statements from leaders representing a reputed national party are shocking and expose the thinking of these leaders”

It said the NPF is a respectable regional party with a national outlook and their MPs were playing a participatory and contributory role in national politics. On the matter of the erstwhile BJP and NCP members joining the NPF, it needs to be exposed to the people that the Congress is the real architect behind them having to join the NPF. In fact, it was the Congress leaders who had put immense pressure on both the BJP and NCP members to merge with the Congress and destabilise the DAN Government.

However, the then BJP and NCP leaders were not convinced with the divided house of the Congress but rather they accepted the political approach and the leadership of the NPF under Neiphiu Rio and therefore they took the right step of merging with the mandated party of the Naga people. (NNN)
