Four boys too in police net

SHILLONG: The city police on Friday night picked up six girls from a hotel in city and a residence in Happy Valley who were allegedly brought to Shillong at the behest of ANVC leader Sasan E Sangma in charge of Nongalbibra, for getting admission into some college.

Highly placed sources in the police say that Sasan E Sangma had brought these girls to Shillong, not for admission but to lure them to the flesh trade. This raises questions on the activities of the ANVC which has been under ceasefire agreement with the Central and State Government for the past several years.

Sources also informed that four girls from Garo Hills were picked up by the police from Grace Hotel while the other two girls were picked up from the residence of Sasan Sangma at Happy Valley.

Police sources believe that Sasan was using two sex workers to lure the innocent girls into the flesh trade.

The police during their operation also picked up four boys who were staying with the girls in Grace Hotel.

Taking strong cognizance of the incident, the State police held the young women and the boys who were with them for questioning at Sadar Police Station here. Police have informed that Church leaders are worried at the incident and some of them had visited the Sadar police station on Friday afternoon.
