SHILLONG: The separation process of Judiciary from Execution has been completed in East Khasi Hills district. Informing this here on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge Law department Bindo M Lanong said, “We are now almost ready for a separate high court.” A Bill to establish separate High Courts for Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura was approved by Parliament last month by amending the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971 and other related laws. Speaking to The Shillong Times, Lanong said, “The Bills is now awaiting the assent of the President of India.” According to Lanong, the district courts are now not taking any judicial matter and now the Government plans to complete the separation of judiciary from executive in other districts.
