Last year also the owner of the warehouse K Lyngkhoi had met with the similar resistance and had taken the matter to the High Court. Lyngkhoi won the case. Another case in this regard was filed by some NGOs from Nongstoin. Lyngkhoi returned victorious again.

The NGOs and people of the area protested opening of it on Friday.

V Swer, Magistrate (West Khasi Hills) and G D Kharwanlang, Additional Superintendent of Police (West Khasi Hills) arrived at the scene to take stock of the situation and to explain to the people of the area that Lyngkhoi had won both the cases.

Lyngkhoi later said he setup the warehouse following all the guidelines set by the Government.

The people present said that the Deputy Commissioner of the district should have issued a notice to the headman of the area to apprise him about the inauguration.
