JOWAI: Several NGOs of Jaintia Hills district — JYF, JSU, HNPF, AJYWO, HANM and Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong — have decided to submit a joint memorandum demanding an early settlement of border problem between Meghalaya and Assam.

The decision to this effect was taken at a public meeting held at Khanduli on Saturday which was attended by residents of border village besides the leaders of several NGOs.

“We want to put pressure on the state government to resolve border problem”, the JYF chief P Majaw said.

“Our people residing along the Meghalaya -Assam border are facing various kinds of problems and we believed that improper demarcation is one of the major problems that has brought various kind of differences between residents of Meghalaya and Assam”, he added.

Meanwhile, a joint delegation of JSU and Karbi Students Association will visit Khanduli village on Monday to asses the situation at Zero Point and surrounding area.
