Birmingham: The third and final Test between England and West Indies finished without a decision after rain forced the abandonment of the final day at Edgbaston here on Monday.
Persistent rain which caused the complete washout of the first two days returned and umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Tony Hill were forced to call off play at 3:12 p.m.
England were poised to resume their first innings at 221 for five in reply to West Indies’ 426, with Ian Bell unbeaten on 76.
England won the series 2-0 after victories at Lord’s and Trent Bridge.
Meanwhile, West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin has been slapped with a fine by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his controversial jibe at Vivian Richards while celebrating his century on Sunday’s penultimate day of the final Test against England.
Ramdin, who finished on an unbeaten 107, brandished a piece of paper in the direction of the media centre with the words “Yeah Viv Talk Nah”, scribbled on it.
The action was in response to criticism levelled at him by the legendary West Indies batsman and captain, now a media pundit for the BBC, following the Trent Bridge Test.
While Ramdin later regretted his behaviour, he was fined 20 percent of his match fee. (IANS)
