Mumbai: It’s been in the theatres for over two weeks, but Rowdy Rathore is still minting money. As the movie has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, its cast and crew partied hard here Friday night to celebrate its success.

So far, the film is said to have made Rs 114.5 crore nett.

Director Prabhu Deva, whose Wanted was also a runaway hit, said: “I am very happy that both my films crossed the Rs.100 crore mark. Now I am scared of making my third film as people’s expectations have increased.”

The success party was held at Taj Land’s End.

The lead pair of the film — Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha were also present at the event.

While Akshay wore a black shirt, Sonakshi sizzled in a short black dress.

Rowdy Rathore is Sonakshi’s second film and also her second hit after Dabangg. She is ecstatic.

“I want all my films to do well, so I keep my fingers crossed,” she said.

Akshay Kumar starrer Rowdy Rathore has garnered over Rs 100 crore at the box office, sparking a buzz that plans of a sequel may soon be under way. And the films’s co-producer, UTV Motion Pictures’ CEO Siddharth Roy Kapoor doesn’t rule out the possiblity either.

“You know, there are a lot of interesting thoughts about what we should be doing – sequel, prequel, etc. But I think it’s important for Sanjay (Bhansali), Prabhu Deva and us to really sit down and discuss on what we do and obviously along with Akshay take a call on what’s next,” the 37-year-old said here Friday night at the success bash of the film.

Asked to react on filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s recent comment about rubbish films making Rs.100 crore, Kapoor said: “I really don’t have any comment.”

However, the film’s lead actor Akshay Kumar had something to say to it.

“I feel that whatever he wanted to say, he said. But I have watched Ferrari Ki Sawaari and I liked that,” he said.

Rowdy Rathore co-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also nonchalant. “He (Chopra) is my mentor. If he said something, I am happy,” he said.

Directed by Prabhu Deva, Rowdy Rathore, a remake of the 2006 Telugu hit Vikramarkudu starring Ravi Teja. It marked Akshay’s comeback to action after seven years. (IANS)
