3 KPLT ultras shot dead in Karbi Anglong

 Guwahati: Three militants belonging to Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) were killed by a joint team of police and paramilitary forces in an encounter at Dolamara Torapung area in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.

Police recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunitions including three AK 47 rifles from the slain militants. Forces launched a search operation in the area after being tipped off about presence of ultras in the area. seeing the police the ultras fired at them. Police also retaliated and gunned down the militants and recovered the arms

The KPLT has been creating trouble in the hill district by indulging in widespread extortion and incident of abduction. The outfit has set up base in inaccessible areas of Singhason hill areas in the hill district.

Though Assam Police and CRPF personnel launched a prompt joint operation to locate and rescue the labourers, the efforts yet to deliver goods much to the embarrassment of the forces.

It was only on May 5 last that Bling Hanse, self-styled commander-in-chief of the KPLT was killed by some of his colleagues in an internal feud. Hanse had taken charge as commander-in-chief of the outfit after his predecessor Ampang Ingti was shot dead by security forces in July last year.
