Public caution

The SP, East Khasi Hills has cautioned the public against fraudsters offering cheap funds in the form of lottery prize money through letters, e-mails, SMS, etc. Such communications were also sent on fake letterheads of the Reserve Bank of India or other reputed organisations signed by their top officials. In the process many citizens were victimized and lost huge sums of money. The SP urged the public not to remit or deposit any amount in response to such fictitious offers.

Cleaning drive

The Seng Samla Dong Nongpathaw (Mawlai Mawdatbaki) will conduct a cleaning drive of the Umshing River at 8 am on Saturday. Sample fishes will also be released in the river on the same day.

Illegal dumping

The Dorbar Shnong Lawmali apprehended three persons early Wednesday for illegally dumping garbage in the restricted areas. The Dorbar Shnong has stated that while the Shnong are trying their best to maintain cleanliness in the locality, people from other localities are dumping their garbage in the area.
