SHILLONG: Former Mawprem Congress legislator DN Joshi son’s Vinod Joshi was disappointed over the Block Congress Committee’s (BCC) refusal to consider his name as a ticket aspirant for the 18-Shillong West constituency, sources said on Sunday.

The BCC had earlier forwarded the name of prominent city businessman and Myntri of Hima Mylliem Mohindro Rapsang to the East Khasi Hills District Congress Committee (EKDCC) for consideration.

“Joshi is of the view that being the son of the former MLA and an ardent Congress supporter he has every right to sought the party ticket,” party sources informed here on Sunday.

Since it is the party high command which would take a final call on the allotment of tickets, Joshi had tried to

convince the BCC members that two to three names can be submitted for the party ticket from the block.

Despite the request on the part of Joshi, sources informed that the BCC members only forwarded the name of Rapsang.

Sources claimed that with the decision of the BCC, a division has cropped-up among the Congress workers of the 18-Shillong West constituency.
