Tyrsad girls to represent State at Subroto Cup

 SHILLONG: Tyrsad Secondary School, East Khasi Hills has earned the honour to represent the State in the girls’ category after the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs decided to send a girl’s team for the first time at the National Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup to be held in Delhi later this year, while OM Roy Memorial Secondary School and St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School will represent East Khasi Hills in the Under-17 and Under 14 (Boys) respectively at the state-level Subroto Mukherjee Cup to be held in Shillong on July.

St Anthony’s defeated OM Roy Memorial Secondary School 2-0 in the final of the Under-14 (Boys) which was played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Polo on Saturday.

In the Under-17 Boy’s final, OM Roy thrashed Shillong Academy 4-0 thanks to a hat-trick by star striker Enestar Malngiang. Chesterpaul Lyngdoh added to the score.

In the Under-17 Girl’s final, Tyrsad Secondary School defeated Nongwah Secondary School 3-0 as Baiahunlang Nongbet scored a hat-trick.

The prizes to the winners were distributed by SSA general secretary B Diengdoh, Manbha Foundation project director Dr Rica Lamar and Meghalaya Football Players Association (MFPA) president CR Nongrum.
