Zoonosis Day
The Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association, West Khasi Hills unit will observe the World Zoonosis Day on July 6 by conducting a free anti rabies vaccination for dogs at the office campus of the District AH &Veterinary Office, Nongstoin from 7 am to 9 pm.
Sit and draw
The Sien Raij Shillong has informed that the winners of the Sit and Draw competition held on Saturday are Armanki War and Jean Magrita Shylla (1st prize – Group A and B followed by Dathrang-I-Man Pyrbot and Nyngkongsan Pyrbot (2nd, 3rd prize – Group A) and Lanaica Dkhar and Hei Tre Mi Passah (2nd, 3rd – Group B) while Jessica Shylla and Shanbor Khongjah bagged first and second prize in Group C category. The drawings will be exhibited at Sein Raij Hall, Qualapatty on July 6 at 4pm.
Office bearers
The Khasi Authors’ Society (KAS) has elected its new office bearers during the general council meeting held at the Don Bosco Youth Centre here on Monday. The new office bearers include Dr DRL Nonglait (president), KW Nongrum (vice president), KK Kharlukhi (general secretary), Dr DG Kharlukhi (joint secretary), Dr Streamlet Dkhar (treasurer) and other office bearers. On the occasion, a book titled Syngkhong Jingtip – Thup 3 was released by EW Dkhar, former president of the Society.
Mass mobilization
As part of the Meghalaya Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme, the office of the BDO of Mawphlang C & RD Block will conduct a mass mobilization programme on women economic empowerment through financial inclusion to support female SHG and individual potential enterprises run by the poor at AEC building, Mawngap Lumparing on July 6 and at Indoor stadium, Sohiong on July 10.
MPCC calendar
The MPCC has drawn up a calendar for the State Legislative Assembly, 2013 which includes collection of application forms from MPCC office between August 16 and 31 on all working days; submission of applications to the respective BCCs between September 1 to 15; last date for submission by BCCs to the DCCs on October 1 and last date for submission by DCCs to the MPCC on October 15.
Kabir Puraskar
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has instituted a National Award ‘Kabir Puraskar’ to honour persons who show physical and moral courage in saving life and property of members of another community, caste or ethnic group. The awards, to be given in three categories, carry cash rewards of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively along with citations. Intending individuals from East Khasi Hills who wish their names to be recommended for the award have to send their nominations to the deputy commissioner on or before July 12.
