Jowai: Vehicle owners in Jaintia Hills district are not complaining about the high security registration plates (HSRP), but about the delay caused by the Company in fitting the HSRP to their vehicles.

A Syih of Ladnartiang on Tuesday complained that even after he had completed the registration procedures and had paid the entire amount for the department to fit the HSRP to his vehicle, his car is yet to be fitted with the number plate.

Following the Supreme Court order police are now strictly ensuring that all vehicles have the HSRP, failing which they would take action against car owners. But many whose vehicles are awaiting registration are being penalised for no fault of theirs.

Informed sources said that Shimnit Utsch is unable to meet the demand of fitting the HSRP within the given time frame.

They said some vehicle owners even spent the night at the factory of the Company at Demthring (Nongthymmai) so that they could be the first in the queue next morning.

Vehicle owners complain that they have had to wait for more than two weeks after completing all the registration formalities to get their HSRP fixed on their cars.
