SHILLONG: NCP leader Conrad Sangma has slammed the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma for lashing out at Purno Sangma over his candidature in the upcoming Presidential polls.

Conrad was reacting to the statement of the Chief Minister where he questioned the claims of Purno Sangma to be representing the tribal population of this country in the Presidential poll.

“The Chief Minister does not understand the sentiments of the people of Meghalaya, the Garos and the tribals,” the leader of Opposition in the State Assembly said on Tuesday.

The NCP leader also said Dr Sangma has some personal agenda against Purno Sangma and probably this is the reason he is continuously attacking him (Purno Sangma).

“It is indeed a very sad and sorry situation to see the Chief Minister reacting like this,” he added.

Dr Sangma while questioning PA Sangma’s claim that he was fighting the Presidential poll as a representative of the tribals, had said that Purno Sangma could have done lots of things to make a difference to the lives of the tribals had he wished to as he had occupied several key Constitutional posts in his long political career.

“Is he going to do justice to the country…I don’t find any reason to rally behind him”, he had said in New Delhi recently.
