JAC forms demand committee
The Joint Action Committee (JAC), Rongjeng in a general public meeting held recently formed the Rongjeng Civil Sub-Division Demand Committee (RCSDC) for up-gradation of Dambo Rongjeng C&RD Block to Civil Subdivision. The committee also constituted office bearers and executive committee members to manage and run the RCSDC for Civil Sub-Division at Rongjeng.
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee remembered
The BJP R&R local unit on Friday observed the 11th birth anniversary of Jana Sangh ideologue Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. During the celebrations, floral tribute was paid to the Dr Mukherjee.
Body found
A male body identified as one Phernis Kharir (50) was recovered by the Umsning Police on Friday last. The body was found inside a house at Patarim, Umsning. The reason for the death could not be ascertained but it was suspected that he had died 10 days ago due to illness. The body was later handed over to the family members of the deceased .
ICAR training programme
A three-Day training programme for extension functionaries of Ri Bhoi district was organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra,ICAR from July 4-6. Speaking on the occasion, ICAR Research Complex, Umiam Director Dr SV Ngachan urged the extension functionaries to adopt new technologies in the changing scenario in agriculture.
Tanker collides with truck
Two tankers travelling in the same direction were involved in an accident with a truck (RJ18JA-3047) coming from the opposite direction at Lad Sahep, Laitkor on Thursday. The tanker with the registration number (WB37B-1486) went off the road and fell into a drain as it was making space for the other tanker (WB37B-5786) coming from behind which was trying to overtake resulting in a head on collision.
Quiz competition
BK Bajoria Higher Secondary School won the inter-school quiz competition titled Edutain, organised by DSMS, a Durgapur based educational institute in association with Kindle, a monthly magazine, based in Kolkata, at Anton Hall here recently. ST Anthony’s Higher Secondary School finished 1st runners-up followed by Sacred Heart School who finished third.
