Two women held with smuggled gold

 SHILLONG: Police on Tuesday evening arrested two women from Iewduh for possessing smuggled gold.

The arrested women have been identified as Eva Kharbani of Mawlai Syllaikriah and Berolin Khongsi of Lower Lumparing.

A senior police official informed that the police conducted a raid on the shop of the duo in Iewduh after they received information that the two are in illegal possession of smuggled gold.

“During the raid, the police recovered the smuggled gold along with a huge amount of money from their shop,” a senior police official said.

He informed that ten tolas of gold and Rs 2,80,820 along with two electronic weighing machines and one set box for manual weighing

and measurement were seized from Eva while a total amount of Rs 21,50,000 was seized from Berolin.
