NONGSTOIN: Four NGOs — KSU, FKJGP, WYF and the WKHSU of West Khasi Hills – will hold a public meeting to discuss alleged anomalies in implementation of the Nongstoin Urban Water Supply Scheme (NUWSS) here on July 14.

Earlier, the NGOs had written to the Chief Engineer PHED S K Sun to provide details regarding the scheme before July 10. Since the Chief Engineer failed to meet the deadline, the NGOs convened the meeting to discuss the next course of action.

The four NGO had alleged that the scheme sanctioned was worth Rs 133, 94, 12, 700 but only Rs 16 crore has been released as of now. This amount, as per the tender floated, exhibited work towards survey, engineering, design, road to pumping station, treatment of water gravity etc.

Sunn had earlier said that this amount (Rs 16 crore) was the Package I of the entire project and that there were several other packages yet to be floated for bidding.

They requested public of Nongstoin to attend the meeting.
