ASEB stops erection of posts

 JOWAI: Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Peter S Dkhar on Thursday informed that the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) has halted the erection of electric posts at Khanduli village in Jaintia Hills district along the Assam-Meghalaya border.

“I had sent my magistrate to take stock of the situation and he has reported that the ASEB has stopped the work,” Dkhar said.

Assam headman appointed in Meghalaya village

Just days after the Karbi-Anglong Autonomous District Council (KAAC) appointed a headman or in Khanduli village, another headman has been appointed at Saitsama village.

The Saitsama village authority has complained that the new headman has been appointed by the KAAC without the concern of the village dorbar.
