SHILLONG: After being suspended for the last few matches, the Status Committee of the Shillong Sports Association (SSA) has finally cleared Shillong Lajong FC star striker Seikhohao Tuboi to play the remaining matches of the ongoing Shillong Premier League (SPL).

This decision of the Status Committee has come as a major relief for the club, especially when the team is really struggling in the competition.

“We have taken this decision after taking into account the whole details of the case,” a member of the committee said here on Monday.

The member of the committee however insisted that they have taken time to make the decision because there were some complications with regards to the inter-state transfer of Tuboi.

But after the AIFF clarified on all the doubts relating to the inter-state transfer of Tuboi, the member of the committee said that they have no other option but to allow Tuboi to play the remaining matches of the SPL.

The SSA had recently barred Shillong Tuboi from playing in the league on the grounds that the Club had failed to produce his inter-state transfer to the Association.

The SSA took this drastic step after Malki SC, another team currently involved in the SPL, lodged a protest questioning Tuboi’s participation in the tournament.

An official of Shillong Lajong had claimed that the decision of the SSA to bar Tuboi was undue harassment of the Club.

“The SSA is aware that the AIFF had already cleared Tuboi on this issue (inter-state transfer) when Southern Samity FC raised a similar question during the Second Division I-League final round in last year,” the SLFC official said.
