JYF withdraws road blockade

JOWAI: The proposed two days night road blockade called by the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) was called off after a meeting between JYF leaders and Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Peter S Dkhar on Wednesday.

Following the meeting with the DC, the JYF themselves held a separate meeting and decided to call off the proposed agitation.

JYF president P Majaw, while announcing the withdrawal of the night road blockade, informed news persons that the Deputy Commissioner had declared that the new District in Jaintia hills would be inaugurated on July 31.
