Shillong: The State Government on Thursday sought a clarification from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare over the allotment of two medical seats to the children of the NEIGRIHMS faculty thereby depriving quotas for students from the State, officials said.

The decision in this regard was taken in the wake of the alleged allotment of medical seats from the ‘State Quota’ to children of the faculty teaching at the super specialty hospital.

“We have written to the Ministry over the de-allotment of two seats meant for the State,” Deputy Chief Minister and in charge Health and Family Welfare, Rowell Lyngdoh, said.

The Union Health Ministry had allotted nine seats for students belonging to Meghalaya before de-allotting two seats, he said. (PTI)
