Silchar: With a view to prevent any untoward incidents in bars in this south Assam town, the Cachar district administration has imposed strict rules over them.

As per the orders no bar would be allowed to sell liquor to any person below 21 years age and buyers would have to furnish identity documents, including proof of age, official sources said.

Besides, all bar owners have been directed to install CCTVs in the bar room and entrances within the next seven days, the sources said adding they have been directed to have their own security guards.

Also, all bar owners have been ordered to install adequate lighting inside their premises.

Among its recommendations, the NCW had asked the state government to direct bars to install CCTVs as part of its strict control over them. (PTI)
