Golden Jubilee Celebrations

As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, Dept of Political Science, St. Edmund’s College, will be organizing an inaugural programme on July 28 at 11AM. Vincent H Pala, Hon’ble minister of State for Water Resources and Minority affairs will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. This will be followed by a Guest Lecture on ‘Peace and Conflict resolution in India’s North East’ by Dr Nani G Mahanta of Guwahati University.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Nongkwar Secondary School, is celebrating its golden jubilee this year.The past pupils are to meet in the school premises on August 4 at 12 am.

Training Programme

The Sunderland Memorial School in collaboration with the Synod College Disaster Mangement team will hold a special training programme on disaster management in the school premises on July 27 at 1 pm.

Workshop

Goodwill Industrial Development Society will organize a one day workshop on the theme “Industrial activities as a source of livelihood on july 28 at Mawprem Dorbar Hall, Shillong.

Award instated

The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs had instituted an award “The Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award 2013 to be conferred to Non-Resident Indian (NRIs) or a person of Indian Origin (PIO) that has made a significant contribution in welfare of local Indian community.

General Meeting

The General meeting of the Meghalaya College Non Teaching Employees Association will be held on Saturday at St Anthony’s College at 2 pm.

National Seminar

A National Seminar on “Rural Development in North East India: Challenges and Opportunities” will be held at Women’s College from July 27-28. BM Lanong, Deputy Chief Minister will grace the occasion as chief guest on July 27 at 10am and KN Kumar, Principal Secretary will deliver the keynote address.

Workshop

The directorate of census operations is organizing a workshop on data dissemination of house, household amenities and assets 2011 census on Thursday at Shillong Science Centre, NEHU at 10am.

New unit

The KSU has formed a new unit- laitmawsiang unit at Sohra on July 21 in the presence of the Sordar Shnong of laitmawsiang, general secretary KSU Auguster Jyrwa, president of KSU Sohra circle, S Nongrum besides others. The new bearers included Shemlang Ranee as the president, Hamarbamut Khonglam as the vice president.
