KSU deports labourers

 NONGPOH: KSU’s Ri-Bhoi unit on Wednesday deported around 200 non-tribal labourers to Assam from Arphew Mer following a clash between tribal and non-tribal labourers.

According to KSU’s Northern Border Area Vice President Paul Wahlang, two Khasi youths — Bok Nongbet (27) and Jop Nongbet (19) — were assaulted by a group of four non-tribal labourers on Tuesday at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Niangbari about 20 kilometers from here.

The reason behind the assault is yet to be ascertained.

The labourers were engaged in construction works of staff room, boundary walls etc of JNV, Niangbari.
