Kohima: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee(NPCC) chief S.Imtisungit Jamir has said that the people wanted an ‘early settlement’ of the Naga political issue.

State legislators would press the Union government to find a solution at the earliest, he said.

He was speaking at a gathering at the celebration of Tsungremong festival with Chairmen and Gaon Burhas from all the colonies in Dimapur at his residence at Darogapathar in Dimapur yesterday.

Mr. Jamir said, ‘Nagas want settlement and we are going to meet the central leaders.’

He said all the 60 legislators of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister SK Shinde and Leader of Opposition in Parliament to find a solution to the vexed Naga political issue.

Mr. Jamir further informed that the legislators have made an appointment to meet the three leaders between August 7 and 8 and added that they have appealed to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation to put more strength into what it had been doing so far. (UNI)
