TURA: The breakaway faction of Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC-B) will not allow politicians from Garo Hills and Garo-dominated areas of Khasi Hills to campaign in Garo Hills for the Assembly elections due in 2013 if its demands are not addressed immediately.

In a statement, the ANVC (B) said, the sitting MP, MLAs, MDCs of the region should start working for the best interest of the A’chik community.

The ANVC (B) is demanding a separate state for the Garos — Greater Garoland.

“If the A’chik politicians fail to address or look into our demands, we are ready to do whatever it takes to prevent them from entering Garo Hills to campaign for the upcoming 2013 elections” the ANVC (B) said.

The ANVC (B), meanwhile, has constituted an anti-corruption wing (ACW) to check corruption in the State.
