SHILLONG: Four talented musicians have come together for a musical concert titled ‘Classic Jazz’ organised by the Aroha Music and Cultural Society (AM&CS).

The four talented musicians (Ronojit Chaliha, Adel Massar, Amarnath Hazarika and Samuel Shullai) would be playing a blend of classical and jazz music at a musical event to be held at Aurobindo Institute Auditorium on Saturday from 5.30 pm onwards.

The four musicians coming from different musical backgrounds are excited at the prospect of performing classical and jazz form of music at the same time which is a rare combination.

The group is being led by Samuel Shullai, professional session drummer cum guitarist who has been associated with bands like the Great Society and Soul Mate.

“I was taken aback when I was offered to be a part of this musical event. But now I feel really great to be playing alongside three young talented musicians,” Shullai said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Amarnath Hazarika, a graduate from Berkley School of Music, Boston, USA said that the experience of playing together has been great.

“We have come together for a very short period. But we all feel it has been a long association,” Hazarika, who would be playing the guitar at the event, said.

The other two musicians — Adiel Massar and Ronojit Chaliha — would be playing the cello and the piano respectively.

Hazarika, Massar and Chaliha had earlier come together for a concert in Guwahati in June. Shullai would be joining the three others for the very first time.
