NONGSTOIN: The KSU (Rambrai Circle) led by its president Pyrshan Jyrwa inspected the saw mills, dairy and bakery at Rambrai on Friday and found 10 migrant workers without valid papers. All the ten were asked to leave the place within “thirty minutes”. The inspection followed the KSU deadline given to the workers to produce labour license and work permits which ended on Saturday last. Seven among the 10 were working at the saw mills, two at a bakery and one at a dairy. Most of the workers were from Assam and the owners of the units tried to hide them when the KSU team arrived.

The KSU also issued a stern warning to all the owners of various businesses to refrain from employing people who did not possess valid papers. “If anyone is found providing shelter to workers without proper papers, we would take stringent action against them,” the KSU said. Speaking to this scribe, Jyrwa said that the Government had implemented the laws for issuing work permit and it was mandatory for all migrant workers to possess them.
