Nagaland- Assam district administrations meet to curb crimes

Kohima: To curb unlawful activities between Dimapur and Karbi Anglong district in Assam, the district administrations and police of both Dimapur and Karbi Anglong held a coordination meeting at Dimapur.

According to official sources here on Sunday, the meeting was held on August 10 as a measure to promote maintenance of peaceful co-existence in the adjoining border areas of Dimapur and Karbi Anglong, where Dimapur Deputy Commissioner (DC) N Hushili Sema described the meeting as an exercise on confidence building to help in information sharing and also to maintain peaceful coexistence in the border areas.

The DC of Karbi Anglong P K Buragohain acknowledged that there were no significant border issues between the two districts unlike other neighbouring districts.

He however, pointed out that joint efforts such as the meeting would assist both the administrations in tackling drug and child traffickers besides controlling cross-border crimes.

During the discussion, both sides acknowledged the importance of strengthening information sharing down to the level of field officers and also at the existing bordering check gates and reconstruction of bridge at old Golaghat road in Dimapur for better connectivity.

The joint meeting was also attended by Dimapur Superintendent of Police (SP) V Z Angami, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Sedevikho Khro, Additional SP Watichuchang, SP of Karbi Anglong B P Chetri and other officials of both the districts. (UNI)
