SHILLONG: Local hawkers of Khyndai Lad have accused the employees of the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) of stealing their goods which were kept at their godown at MUDA parking lot.

According to the hawkers, goods worth Rs 1.40 lakh were stolen from the godown on Friday.

“This time the SMB employees have taken our goods from the godown itself. Normally they would forcefully take away our goods during eviction drives,” one of the hawkers from Khyndai Lad, Aitimon Thangkhiew, told reporters on Monday.

The hawkers have demanded adequate compensation from the Government for the stolen goods and action against the SMB employees involved in the theft.
