 SHILLONG: A top Australian club, Wellington Phoenix, will compete in a new triangular series, the “North East Lajong Super Series”, set to begin soon.

It will be held from August 24 to September 1 in three cities – Shillong, Imphal and Guwahati.

Wellington Phoenix FC is a professional side from New Zealand, which plays in Australia’s premier football competition, the A-League. The tournament will feature two I-League clubs, Shillong Lajong and newly-promoted United Sikkim. The round robin format will conclude with the final in Shillong on September 1.

Round robin fixtures:

August 24: United Sikkim vs Wellington Phoenix (Guwahati)

August 26: Shillong Lajong  vs Wellington Phoenix (Imphal)

August 30: Shillong Lajong vs United Sikkim (Shillong)
