Shillong: Lone woman legislator of the State, Ampareen Lyngdoh, on Monday called upon members of the Mahila Block Congress (MBC) Pynursla to stay united as party members without paying heed to the fight for the party ticket from the constituency between aspirants Prestone Tynsong and KK Dkhar.

Speaking at a gathering on the occasion of the 68th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi, organised by the Mahila Congress Pynursla, held at the Memorial Hall St. Eusai, here on Monday, Lyngdoh said, “As women, you should be able to unite all the supporters of the party to prevent them from being misled by opportunists.”

Further, she added that the fight for the Congress ticket between Tynsong and Dkhar should not bring about a division among the supporters of the party.

Lyngdoh urged the leaders of the Mahila Block Congress to stick together and not allow any external forces to interfere with the party’s affairs and mislead the supporters prior to the 2013 State election which is due early next year.

She also stated that the State needs representatives who are well aware of the problems of the people and who are capable to work for the welfare of the people to ensure development in every sphere.

President of the Pynursla MBC, E Khongstia, stated that it was their duty to work for the welfare of the people and it would not matter if the ticket is allotted to either Tynsong or Dkhar.
