TURA: Suspected militants of Liberation of Achik Elite Force (LAEF) lobbed a grenade into the wine store in Mangsang town of east Garo Hills on Monday afternoon. No one was injured.

The suspected militants came to Mangsang bazar at 12:30 pm and threw the grenade into the shop. The grenade, however, did not explode.

Last year the LAEF had served a demand note on the owner of the wine store and when he refused to pay they kidnapped his son got ransom. However, East Garo Hills police conducted one of the most successful rescue operations and safely brought back the son without the owner having to pay the ransom. Angered with the incident the LAEF had issued several threats to the wine store owner. Police from Rongjeng outpost have rushed extra forces with CRPF personnel to Mangsang.
