Shillong: The FKJGP Mairang Circle has questioned the Community and Rural Development (C &RD) department’s directive to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) job card holders of Mairang Block to open accounts with ICICI Bank.

The NGO stated that in a complaint received from the members of the village employment council (VEC) and area employment council (AEC) of the Mairang block, the job card holders have expressed their disagreement over this direction stating that it will be difficult for them to travel all the way to Shillong to either withdraw or deposit money from their account as at present, the branch of the ICICI Bank is not available at Mairang.

The FKJGP would also apprise of the matter to the Deputy Commissioner West Khasi Hills as the BDO of the Mairang Block
